Wireless Router Resource

Welcome to Wireless Router Resource where we hope to help you find some information about wireless routers.

If you do not have wireless internet at your home and wish you did, then one thing that you will need is a wireless router. Wireless routers come in many shapes, sizes and colors as well as price-points and functionality.

For the vast majority of people needing a wireless router, the situation is something along the lines of: they have high-speed internet access on their (or the family’s) desktop computer, but no wireless access. In most of these cases, the individual has recently purchased or otherwise acquired a new laptop computer with a built-in wireless card (do they even make laptops without built-in wireless any more?) but must plug a network cable (also known as CAT5 or ethernet) between their laptop and the family’s modem in order to get internet on their laptop. When they do this, the family’s desktop no longer has internet access.

By getting a wireless router, you can not only access the internet from your laptop without having to plug in a cable each and every time, most wireless routers also allow devices (usually 4) to be plugged directly into them for internet connectivity as well. This means that up to 4 wired devices and several wireless devices can all access the internet at the same time.

Wireless routers are fairly inexpensive and generally quite simple to configure. In fact, many of them are plug-and-play to the point that they will work as configured (though it is not recommended) right out of the box. For any configuration that is required, the majority of the routers on the market today can be configured through a web interface using your favorite browser which means you quite possibly won’t even need to use the disk that comes with it.

Feel free to poke around this site and find out a little bit more about the different types of wireless routers both in terms of brand and technology as well as information about purchasing them.
